The sweeping escarpment of the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains delivers everything from dramatic mountain peaks and glacier carved canyons to an arid valley resting in the rain shadow of the mountains. Flanked on the east side by the White and Inyo mountains, the setting provides photographers 360 degree mountain vistas with foreground features of sagebrush and salt flats plus mountain lakes, Mono lake, and the winding Owen's river which snakes its way down valley. Please enjoy images from some of my favorite locations along this lesser known but breathtaking part of the west.
